The Story Behind Tamitos
Every project begins with a story, and Tamitos is no exception. For us, Tamitos was born out of love — and also out of a struggle. We are parents to Tamia, a little girl on the autism spectrum, who taught us to see the world differently. She is sensitive to sound, full of wonder, and carries her own quiet kind of magic. But too often, we saw how the world didn’t have enough space to understand her. So, instead of waiting for the world to change, we decided to build a space where difference is not a limitation, but a gift. That space became Tamitos.
What Autism Means to Us
Autism is often described with clinical definitions, but to us it is something much deeper. It means living in a world where sounds, lights, and movements can feel overwhelming — and at the same time, noticing beauty and details others pass by. It means challenges, yes, but it also means strengths that deserve to be celebrated. For our family, autism is not a label. It is part of who our daughter is, and part of what makes her unique. Through her, we’ve learned empathy, patience, and a whole new way of experiencing the world.
